LG Electronics is strategically focusing on the advancement of robotic actuators and business-to-business (B2B) appliances as key areas for growth. The company is gearing up for significant orders from global technology firms. Their newly developed actuators boast lighter, more efficient, and cost-effective designs, positioning them for mass production. Discussions with several major tech companies are underway, and LG anticipates finalizing its first substantial order soon.
Earlier this year, LG introduced the LG Axium actuator brand, leveraging its expertise in motors, drive controls, and component design from its home appliance sector. To support this initiative, LG plans to set up a fully automated actuator production line at its Changwon facility by year-end. The demand for actuators is expected to rise with the growth of physical AI and humanoid robotics, particularly by 2030. LG aims to deploy humanoid robots in its Tennessee plant and Changwon smart factory, eventually expanding into household applications as safety technologies advance.
In addition to its focus on robotics, LG is enhancing its B2B appliance operations. Both its built-in appliance and commercial laundry divisions have seen annual revenue increases of over 40% over the past three years. In Europe, LG is bolstering its specialized sales force, broadening its premium built-in brands, and plans to expand its product displays to 3,000 outlets by the year’s end.
Furthermore, LG is advancing its commercial laundry business by introducing larger-capacity machines and building partnerships in Southeast Asia. In Europe, the company is promoting high-efficiency appliances to reinforce its aim to become a leading home appliance provider in the region by 2030.
