Thailand clinched the bronze medal in women’s volleyball at the 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026 by defeating South Korea in a straight-sets victory on Tuesday. The match, held at Park Arena Komaki, ended with scores of 25-20, 25-19, and 25-23, marking Thailand’s fourth consecutive Asian Games medal in this event.
The encounter began with South Korea seizing an early lead in the first set. However, Thailand quickly responded, using a combination of effective attacks and strong serving to take control of the game. Midway through the set, Thailand established a lead that culminated in a 25-20 win.
The second set mirrored the competitiveness of the first, with South Korea briefly ahead at 11-9. Nevertheless, Thailand’s offensive play regained momentum, allowing them to secure the set 25-19. This set the stage for a decisive third set, which saw Thailand overcoming another South Korean lead.
In the third set, the teams were neck-and-neck until the final moments. Thailand reached match point at 24-23, and a South Korean error secured the set and the bronze medal for Thailand. This victory adds to their previous achievements, having won bronze at the 2014 Asian Games, silver in 2018, and bronze again in 2022.
Beyond their Asian Games success, Thailand’s triumph in the 2026 Asian championship also secured their qualification for the women’s volleyball tournament at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, further highlighting their growing prominence in the sport.
