Tate’s Vanuatu Citizenship Secure: Government Finds No Fault

Andrew Tate’s Vanuatu citizenship is secure, as a government review has found no fault with the process by which he obtained it. This official confirmation means the influencer will continue to hold his Vanuatu passport, despite the considerable scrutiny surrounding his legal battles and the timing of his naturalization. The government’s decision hinges on the legality of the original application.
Kiery Manassah, a spokesperson for the Vanuatu government, stated that the citizenship office conducted a thorough examination of Tate’s documents. He clarified that at the time of his citizenship approval in December 2022, Tate had been cleared by Interpol and the UK. This compliance with international security checks, according to Manassah, was sufficient for the grant at that time.
Manassah did admit that the government would have made a different decision if they had been aware of the allegations against Tate at the time of his application. However, he highlighted the legal limitations of revoking citizenship based on information that surfaced post-grant, emphasizing that they cannot “just go back and revoke based on information that is discovered later.”
Recognizing the “very bad reputation” of its citizenship program, Vanuatu’s government is actively working on strengthening its due diligence processes. The goal is to ensure that future applicants undergo more rigorous vetting to prevent similar controversies and to improve the program’s global standing, thereby restoring international confidence.
