South Korean President Lee Jae Myung met with Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, chairman of the Executive Affairs Authority of Abu Dhabi, on Friday to discuss the ongoing partnership between South Korea and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The meeting, held at Cheong Wa Dae, reinforced the commitments made during Lee’s state visit to the UAE last November, aimed at strengthening bilateral ties.
President Lee emphasized the importance of the UAE’s support, particularly in prioritizing crude oil supplies to South Korea earlier this year. He highlighted the progress in cooperation across various sectors, including defense, artificial intelligence, nuclear energy, and culture. Lee advocated for enhanced communication between officials from both nations to advance these areas of collaboration into tangible projects.
Al Mubarak conveyed greetings from UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and praised the strong partnership with South Korea. He noted that the cooperation has extended beyond traditional areas like energy and infrastructure, now encompassing investment, space, healthcare, and education.
The discussion between the two leaders sets the stage for anticipated high-level discussions, with the possibility of a summit in South Korea in the coming months. Such engagements are expected to further solidify the relationship between the two countries, paving the way for future collaborations.
