Germany Steps Up Amid US Aid Uncertainty for Ukraine

As the United States reportedly halts its latest military aid shipment to Ukraine, including vital Patriot air defense missiles, Germany has announced it is in “intensive talks” to potentially acquire these systems for Kyiv. This move comes as Ukraine faces escalating Russian bombardments, with a record-breaking aerial assault on Kyiv underscoring the urgent need for robust air defense. The US aid pause is attributed to a review of its own military stockpiles.
The German initiative highlights a growing European effort to support Ukraine’s defense, especially in light of President Donald Trump’s expressed “disappointment” with Russian President Vladimir Putin’s refusal to make concessions for peace.
