President Donald Trump has declared a “historic” deal aimed at the complete disarmament of Hamas, marking what he describes as a significant move toward resolving the ongoing conflict in Gaza. The announcement was made via social media, although neither the Israeli government nor Hamas has officially confirmed the agreement’s existence.
According to Trump’s statement, the proposed agreement would involve a phased dismantling of Hamas’s military capabilities, including the destruction of its tunnel network and the surrender of heavy weapons, all under international oversight. In exchange, Israeli forces would gradually withdraw from Gaza, allowing an international stabilization force and a new Palestinian security administration to assume responsibility for maintaining peace and order.
The proposed roadmap also stipulates a complete ceasefire before the disarmament process can begin. Following this, Hamas’s heavy weapons, tunnels, and military infrastructure would be dismantled under the watch of an international verification committee.
