Saudi Arabia and South Korea have strengthened their commitment to collaborate on advancing artificial intelligence, digital infrastructure, and technology investments following a series of high-level discussions in Seoul. The meetings aimed to bolster innovation and support Saudi Arabia’s vision to become a prominent global player in the AI sector.
Leading the Saudi delegation, Minister of Communications and Information Technology Abdullah Al-Swaha, alongside Haytham Al-Ohali, Governor of the Communications, Space and Technology Commission, engaged with senior South Korean officials. Their discussions centered around partnerships in AI, semiconductors, and digital infrastructure, with a focus on enhancing the digital economy.
A significant part of the dialogue also covered the enhancement of digital government services. Both nations explored collaboration opportunities between Saudi Arabia’s Digital Government Authority and South Korea’s Ministry of the Interior, aiming to advance unified government platforms, digital identity systems, and the integration of AI to improve public service delivery.
During the visit, Al-Swaha also met with the founder and CEO of APL Ventures to explore potential investment opportunities. The conversation highlighted support for Saudi startups and strategies to expand their global presence, as well as encouraging technology investments in Saudi Arabia.
This trip is aligned with Saudi Arabia’s broader strategy to forge robust international technology partnerships, attract substantial investments, and expedite the development of a digitally-driven AI economy. The collaborative efforts with South Korea are seen as a pivotal step in these strategic ambitions.
