Russian Ambassador Denis Alipov touted President Donald Trump’s “understanding” of the Ukraine war, claiming he recognizes the conflict “is lost by Ukraine and the West.”
Alipov sharply contrasted this with European leaders, who he said “continue with their belligerence” and “childish” hopes for a Ukrainian victory.
Speaking at an event, the ambassador called the European belief that Russia could be defeated “craziness and unprofessional,” adding, “There is no chance.”
He based his own certainty on Russia’s military power, specifically its nuclear weapons. He said this arsenal makes it impossible for Russia to be “taken over.”
The ambassador added that Russia’s doctrine allows for the use of these weapons in the event of an “existential threat,” a warning that comes as the war nears its fourth year.
